Who wore it best??

When I was young my mom had pictures of Jami and I taken in the same dress.  I found the dress a while ago (thanks for keeping it mom) and did pics of Megan too.  She's pretty dang tall and skinny.

Here's a side by side comparison of Me, Jami and Megan.  Meg didn't have knee high's on, but she kept pulling them up so they became knee highs...silly girl.

I couldn't decide which picture of Meg to use for the comparison of the close up.

Kids 1....Mommy 0

So last night was a bit rough in the Grant household.  We've moved the kids into the same room as Norman's brother Jerry is going to be staying with us for a bit.   He recently was hired on at the refinery with Norman (yay!) and is debating on buying or renting.  For the most part the kids have been fine with the new sleeping arrangements.  After all, they only sleep in their bedroom and we have a toy room on the main floor.  About 11 Norman was called into work.  Sensing the disappearance of their father they knew I was outnumbered and promptly went into action.  Megan began crying (which she VERY rarely does).  I was shocked and thinking something horrible must have happened.  I rushed to the room and they pounced!!!  Oh why was I thinking I'd be a helpful mommy!?!?!?  I whisper to Meg and ask what's wrong.  She's still crying and begins to tell me she's scared.  This wakes up Matt and he's cranky when woken up.  I grab Meg and bring her to my room (mistake #1).  I'm thinking by doing this I'll allow Meg to calm down and allow Matt to fall back to sleep.....WRONG!!  Matt begins his scream of death and Megan thinks that she should now sleep in my bed....ummmm....no.  I decide to flip flop the children and see if Matt needs some milk.  I put Meg in her bed and she begins to scream and I take Matt down to try to see if I can appease him....nope....Megan's still screaming as well.....ugh!  Over an hour has passed and I'm well....exhausted. I debate throwing the children outside, but decide that would be wrong (I was very tired though).  Alas...the children had won.  I finally checked both and made sure they were clothed, dry and didn't need a drink/food.  Told them they're on their own and good luck.  My heart ached as I listened to the screaming and gnashing of teeth (it was pretty bad people), but I refuse to make this a habit.  After 10 minutes there were lulls in the screaming, after 20 minutes the screaming became more faint, after 30 minutes they were down and I was psyched up and worried that I'd somehow harmed my children by letting them cry.  I'm a believer in letting my kids work through their issues when possible, but ugh....that sucked.  Tonight I'm happy to report happy babies who were pleased to go to bed and haven't made a peep....yet...

Last week we had a pretty big snowstorm.  Megan had a snowsuit last year, but she was still pretty little for it.  This year is a different story though.  We bundled her up and out we went for a sledding adventure with our cousins.  She thought it was a blast.  I even took a run down the hill with her.  It was funny because Alice was a bit worried when I said I'd go sledding.  She didn't think the sled could hold an adult....little did she know it held me and it also held Meg....at the same time :)

Matt came out for a few minutes, but we didn't gear him up.  He's walking pretty good, but not the best when it comes to uneven surfaces, so snow's going to be rough.  When Norman brought him with no mittens I wasn't thrilled, but one quick run down the hill and back inside he went.

San Diego Zoo and Mormon Battalion Museum

Our last day in California was at the zoo.  We had to see the Giraffe's (Megan's second favorite and favorite at Hogle Zoo because they don't have mingos)

Oh....the flamingos...

Quite the rhino

Grandpa pushing Megan for a change

Love my family!!

Yah....I'm glad I didn't break the bird statue....it would have been expensive to fix....
Megan wants a turn

She pinned the ape!

Megan wanted to climb the bamboo like a monkey

Such a handsome boy!

The first day we were there the hotel concierge had said to go check out the Mormon Battalion Museum.  We'd tried to find it on our adventures earlier in the week, but didn't see it and didn't think much of it.  We just happened to see it on our way to get more yummy food in Old Town and had to stop.  It was the BEST stop ever!  It was the highlight of our trip.  I don't know if it was because we had no expectations or what.  If you are ever in San Diego you must stop and visit the Battalion Museum.  I won't give it away, but it's awesome! They have a story they tell you as you move from room to room and they really bring the history to life.  We were able to pan for gold at the end which was fun for the kids too.

So sad for our vacation to be over :(  Don't worry California....We'll be back :D
