Megan LOVES to craft. She's been making bunny masks with Aunt Amanda during the day and this week she decided to kick it up a notch and make a bunny costume....this girl!! I had to add pipe cleaners to the head so she could wear it. Yah...I so love this girl!

Muddy Puddles
We are finally starting to get a taste of spring this year. It's been below average cold and snowy and this weekend we finally saw temps hit 50. My dad is starting to do so much better too. This week they had to have some work done on their Jeep. My mom was off on Monday (President's day) so she planned on just sitting there for the 3 hours while they worked on it...ok...and walking to ShopKo because it wasn't too far away from the dealership. When they pulled things apart they realized that they actually needed to do both sides and not just the one. This caused an issue because they didn't have the parts for both sides. They could either put it back together and she could drive it home, or they could leave it there. My dad was actually up to driving down to Brigham to pick up my mom. This was the first time he's driven since the surgery. He's not on heavy duty pain meds, but he's just been too weak until now. He's able to walk down the road by himself now and on Friday Daphne was getting low on food so he drove up town and wandered through the store to see if they had the right kind (which they didn't...she's spoiled!!). He had a Dr's appt on Thursday and they said he's looking great and no work for one more month.
On Saturday we took off to Elwood and as we got there we saw someone walking down the road. My dad's walk has gotten so good we actually couldn't tell if it was him just on the walk (he used to shuffle). It was him so we continued down the road. I pulled up next to him and unrolled the back window. The kids were laughing and yelling for Grandpa. He was about to turn around and head home and we said we'd race him. We went down the road a little farther and turned around and headed back. My dad was walking right in the middle of the road. We got close to him and he was wiggling his butt at us and walking in our way. I laid on the horn and yelled out the window "Get out of the road old man!!" The kids were cracking up so hard in the back. It's so fun to have them understand the jokes and get such a kick out of them now.
We ran to Arby's to get food at the Elwood gas station (still cracks me up we have an Arby's in Elwood now). I gave each of the kids their food and Matt says in a deep voice "Arby's....we have the meats!!" I can't believe he can remember the jingle....cracks me up!!
We brought our farm boots with us because we figured there would be all sorts of mud and gunk and sure enough...we weren't disappointed. The kids wanted to go see the "horses" so we put on the boots and off we went. It didn't take long for the kids to discover the muddy puddles (even better than mud or puddles). Warning...picture overload coming....they were just too funny to not add and I only picked a few..
Started out innocent enough playing in the now
Oh hey....a puddle....
Meg wants to give that a try...
Pretty cool!
Matt discovered the deeper puddle first
Meg wants to give the deeper water a try
And this would be why we were soaked at the end of this...
So fun to chase each other through the water
Meg wasn't so much into the water as long as Matt was. At this point she was wet enough and went in. Matt wasn't done though. He continued to explore any puddle he could find.
A new puddle to explore
Nah...the other is better
Maybe if I kneel in the little one
or....kneel in the big one
I should mention that during this splash fest of his he did say "Come on mom and Grandma! Jump in muddy puddles together!!" What a kind little boy...offering to jump in muddy puddles with us.
He was done so we decided to head back....by walking through the puddles on our way in.
His boots were full of water. There was no avoiding it. They'd slosh as he walked. He found a stick and was writing in the rocks...that made it ok that his boots were sloshy.

Happy Birthday...well....kinda
Recently Matt has started to say prayers all by himself. It's pretty cute for the most part and he'll randomly be thankful for various things for several minutes sometimes (Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse Club house, Superman, Ninja Turtles...) He's been mentioning cake a lot recently, but we weren't sure why. Tonight we decided to go get some groceries and my pregnant belly was craving sugar cookies. On our way to the store we started talking to the kids about what we were going to get. We mentioned we were going to get cake and Megan asked what kind. Norman said "Oh, chocolate, or vanilla or maybe cheesecake". Megan said "I love cheese!!! Maybe we could get ham cake....oooo...I love ham" That kid!! Then Norman mentioned tres leches cake and he said it was three milk cake. Megan promptly jumped in "Oh, like white milk, chocolate milk and strawberry milk....so yummy!!" Yet again, we laughed.
We settled on carrot cake cupcakes and got our other groceries and came home (we got sugar cookies too...I didn't forget). On the way home we were talking about cake and Matt started to sing Happy Birthday and talk about blowing out the candles. Come to find out, he didn't care about the "cake" he wanted candles and to blow them out. Heaven forbid he not get his way. We started by singing Happy Valentines Day, but he was more happy with Happy Birthday....over and over and over....

We would light the candles over and over and finally the candles were about gone so we were done. We even video chatted with Grandma Petersen so we could sing to her too. After all of that, Matt licked a little of the frosting off and ran off and played. He didn't want the "cake" he only wanted the candle.. That kid is quite a nut bucket.
On a different note, over the summer we took Sophie in to have a cyst removed from her neck, They did some tests and found out it wasn't cancerous, but she does have a thyroid issue. I'm a bad doggie mommy and have slacked on giving her the meds. It's twice a day and frankly, I have issues giving my kids medications twice a day. Poor Sophie has been looking a little ragged so I decided to give up my issues and take care of her. I've been doing really good at giving her the meds for just over a week now and there's definitely a difference. The issue is, she's now getting into things that she shouldn't. Oh well, it's good to have her looking better. I guess it's been a while since she's been into mischief so she's got some making up to do.

Super Bowl Sunday
We're not big super bowl people, but we still had a fun day. We went to church and Matt even made it clear through primary by himself. He only had one time where I heard him say "no I not whisper" which is improvement. Last week was ward conference and the stake was there. We did the opening song and as I finished it up Matt said very clear and loud "Good job Mommy!" We'll just say there were many giggles.
Today Meg was telling me a story (one of many stories) I kind of zoned out and she said "mom..are you listening to me" I said I was and she goes "ok then, you tell me what I just said" BUSTED!! She's too little to pull this junk....I'm in trouble.
We did turn on football for the half time show. When I checked the game there were only a few minutes left until half time so we just left it there. Megan was like "What is this?!?!" I told her it's football and explained that they try to get the ball to the other end of the field and they hit each other and it's dumb. She agreed and they threw the ball and someone caught it and started to run. Matt suddenly goes "OH YAY!! RUN! GO" Oh geesh...that kid.
Yesterday we went to Grandpa and Grandma Petersen's. Grandpa is starting to do a bit better and FINALLY the weather is good enough that we could get up there without worrying. We walked back to see the horses and it was so funny because the kids could run on the snow....like on the snow. If I would have walked over I would have sunk down through the 6 inches or so of snow. I should have gotten a picture of both of them running, but I was a slacker. I did get some of Matt. Imagine Megan next to him :) She was cold and went in to warm up (I would have preferred to go with her than be outside).
