Jeff and Heidi moved to Mesquite the first part of December and they were able to come and play with us for the weekend. Megan loves to play with Mara and the kids had a lot of fun playing in the new snow.

Christmas
Merry Christmas!!!
This year we had Grandpa and Grandma Petersen stay with us and help open presents. The kids were soooo spoiled!
Megan got Matt a book with a piano at the bottom and we'll just say she has GREAT taste. Matt loved it!
Grandpa and Grandma Petersen got Matt a construction set. He thought it was pretty cool to be a construction worker.

Christmas Dance Performance
Today was the Christmas dance performance for my two kiddos. It was sooo nice to have both of them involved and just be able to sit back and watch. Both kids did great!! Matt would bow after each dance and song they'd sing. It cracked us up!! You could hear Megan singing the song even from the back. They are such great kids!

Zoo Lights
We have annual passes to the zoo and as part of that we get a free visit to zoo lights. The weather looked like it was going to be nice (for December) so we decided to go check out zoo lights. It was an awesome night to go! The weather was really mild and there weren't many people there either. We were able to go visit Santa. Usually the line wait is over an hour and tonight it was about 20 minutes. They had coloring books for the kids to play with (which was cool) and we discovered Matt loves dot to dot. The people behind us were impressed that Matt could do the numbers so high. When it was our turn to see Santa Megan was willing to sit on his lap and talk to him right away, but Matt wasn't so sure. I wasn't too worried about it because Matt doesn't always do what we want and I wasn't going to push it. Santa was awesome though and got him to come and sit on his lap.
Say Cheese!!
Megan wrote a letter to Santa.
Checking out the lights. I wasn't able to get a great picture, but the lights were awesome!!

Zoo day
Norman and I were both able to get some time off for the week of Thanksgiving. This year we're going to Ferron for Thanksgiving and before we took off we spent a day playing at the zoo.
The train....always a favorite!!
My little monkey (Norman is behind there holding her up)
The other monkey (Norman is still back there...he's a lucky guy)
When we go to the zoo we generally get popcorn (a favorite) and as we eat the popcorn we tend to leave a trail of crumbs. This lucky peacock happened upon our trail and figured he'd hit the jackpot.
Coming closer
Where is the source of all of this yummy popcorn?
Aha! Finally we meet you popcorn dropper you. I think they may be best friends forever.
The porcupine wanted to come out and stand with Megan for this picture.
Both looking at the camera and smiling at the same time....no way!!
We were able to watch them work on training with the seals. It was really cool. It wasn't a show, but they work with them year round and we happened to be there during a training session. I didn't get a picture though. Matt was intrigued with the props they were using and wanted to try them out as well.
Who doesn't use a rhino horn to pick one's nose??? geesh...boys!!
