Best Brother Ever

A while ago we had Meg in a separate room from Matt.  Things were going ok until she found a spider by her bed.  I get it....spiders are gross, but she wouldn't sleep in her bed anymore.  We put her back with Matt because boys protect girls from spiders.  Daddy is the ultimate spider killer, but Matt will grow up to be a daddy and thus, a spider killer.

Last night we had a major thunderstorm.  We had one set of lightening that hit WAAAYYY close to our house.  I was surprised we didn't hear any crying from the kids.  Meg started coughing after the storm (she's had a cold).  Norman went to check on her and found her in Matt's bed.  She crawled in with him so he could protect her from the storm.  Norman told her the storms were over and that she'd be ok in her bed.  I love that she loves Matt so much!!!  Cutest little brother/sister relationship ever!!

What did you say??

Matt cracks me up! He's growing so fast and I can't believe how quickly he's changing and picking things up.  He understands that things should be in full sentences, but doesn't know how to put one together.  He just improvises and will come up to you and look you straight in the eye and go "gogalolagogoagalolmo Caillou" or "goodagoodagoodagooda outside".  It's hilarious!  It still kills me that he knows all of his letters.  One of his favorite games is to bring the magnadoodle and have someone draw him letters for him to say.  Keelee first introduced him to the game and he is still loving it!

Matt's also discovered the joys of GI Joe.  He loved playing with Megan's LalaLoopsy and Polly Pockets.  This was quite upsetting to Meg as they are her prized toys.  I got him a couple of GI Joe's (one with a bike, or as Megan will correct me Motorcycle) and he loves to play with them.  They will talk (goodagoodagooda gooda HI) and play together.  The other day he even gave Joe a ride on Mater.  I missed the part where he'd put Joe on the seat and then push the button and make it go forward.  I didn't realize he was giving Joe a ride.

Megan has moved on to full and complete thoughts.  Sometimes the things she articulates to me kills me.  The only thing with her is I have to watch because she repeats a lot of what she hears.  She wants to be like mommy and daddy and as such uses a lot of our same language.  I find her picking up the worst things in me.  When I get mad at her because she's doing something I don't want and she's not listening I apparently say "FINE THEN!" I had never noticed that I do that until Megan would get mad and yell "FINE THEN" and toss her toy or whatever it is she's playing with and now she's mad at me over.  OOPS!

Megan has become more curious over lots of things.  Last week she was asking about mail and if she could mail Grandma Petersen a letter.  I said of course, so Megan spent a little time drawing a beautiful picture of a house and a big potato to send to grandma Petersen.  Here we are taking our letter to the mailbox.  She couldn't believe that it would go from our mailbox to grandma's.
The next week we got a letter back from Grandma with stickers and a note

I love my mom! I love that she took the time to draw out the pictures for Meg.  Megan was sooo excited to get a letter and loved the note and the stickers.

A few days ago as I was putting Megan into bed I looked on the wall and saw what I thought was spider baby sacs all over the wall.  I FREAKED! I couldn't believe we had such bugs and an infestation right next to Meg's bed.  I pointed them out to Norman and Megan started to laugh and said "Mommy! Those are the fuzzies from my back up blankie! I put them there!". I was soooo relieved! She thought it was funny that I didn't know what they were from.  They aren't there anymore because she doesn't want them or something, but she was very proud of them at the time.

We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo....with Trish!!

Friday the 25th I had to work and then I went to Park City with my sister in laws to do some back to school shopping...so fun!! Trish went and visited Jeff and Heidi on Friday which was fun for them.  On Saturday we decided to take Trish and Karley to the zoo for some exciting fun!

One of my kids' favorite places is the water fountain ball as you walk into the zoo.  Megan had been playing in it when she turned and did her hand prints on the sidewalk.  I thought it was adorable!

Norman and Matt at the Giraffes.

We love the Merry Go Round.  We ride it over and over and over....oh so fun!

I took a turn! I don't just stand there, I totally ride...so much fun....I totally don't get motion sick
Megan loves to go around and around

Time for Trish to take a turn
Trish taking pictures of me taking pictures

Uh oh...quick...take the picture!

Megan was riding on Trish's shoulders for quite some time.  It was hot and well...Trish was sweating.  Meg got down and started to say "Mommy....I'm wet".  I thought she may have had an accident.  She insisted she didn't.  Then Trish starts to laugh and was like "I'm pretty sweaty and she was on my neck"....OOPSIE!!!  Megan's walk cracked me up!!  She kept walking like she was saddle sore.
I thought this was so sweet
One...two...THREE!!!

We were walking up this hill and Norman was pushing Matt in the stroller.  Trish started pushing Norman and then Karley helped push Trish....now that's what I call teamwork.

Happy 24th of July!

The 24th of July is Grandpa Petersen's birthday.  This year he turned 85...go grandpa!!  It's crazy that just 5 years ago we had his 80th birthday party and Jami had just died and Marilyn and Grandma were still here.  One week after that party I had a blind date with a man that would forever change my life.  A lot can happen in five years.

This year we had a Petersen family party.  We met in Tremonton and had a great time!!! Trish and Rachel even flew in to be with us...yay!!!

The BEST kind of "Trish on a stick"

My kids don't love Grandpa and Grandma at all....nope...totally not spoiled by them one tiny bit.
I thought it'd be easier to just have the kids share a plate.  The watermelon was a hit for them....Matt see's what he wants....
 Intercepted by big sister....
Mommy to the rescue....two pieces of watermelon coming right up!
Trish told Megan she could wear her cowboy boots.  Megan didn't believe her.
 Looks pretty good Trish
Even Uncle Willis loved her boots...maybe...don't know if he noticed them
For some reason quite some time ago I started taking different pictures of Trish with everyone in attendance at different events.  I have quite the collection of Trish pictures.  When Trish moved I started bringing a "Trish on a stick" so I could continue having pictures of everyone with Trish.  I must say, the real Trish is a lot more fun!

Scott loves having his picture taken...save this baby for the family calendar!

It's also Hal's birthday on the 24th of July.  Happy Birthday!!

Trish almost killed Ellie....well...not really....but she almost dumped her out of her wheelchair....oopsie!

It's ok Amy....it's just Aunt Trish...
 Awww....love my Aunt Trishy!!

Strike a pose! What a great picture! Rachel thought so too, but.....
 her batteries were dead......
 Poor Rachel...

Who's leg is who!?!?!  I will say I do believe the light blue shoe (cough cough mom) does indeed take the cake for whiteness.
For future reference....(Rachel, Julie, Trish, Sharon, Becky, Karley)  I love my ombre tan...quite the tan line there.

What a great day!!!  It was so fun to see everyone again and catch up.  Let's not wait another 5 years....OK???  :D
